From Deb Coates - 02 4363 2083 with daughter Ally (See chart above).
Debra Anne Rohr (Debbie Coates now). I have a daughter Alexandra (Ally) she is 18 in 2009.

My Grandparents were Raymond Leslie (Dentist) and Gladys Adelaide Scoles.

They had three kids: Betty, Faye and Noel
.
Faye is my mum. Im living with her. She just turned 82 in April and quick as a whip. She married dad, Bruce Rohr in 1950, and had my brother Garry in 1951, my sister Sharon in 1953 and me in 1960. Bruce died in 1988.

Betty married Vic Waller in 1952 and had one son, Glen Waller. Betty died in March 2000 and Vic about 4 years later. Glen died from bowel cancer aged 46, about 3 years before Betty.

Uncle Noel married Winifred Sweetman in 1948 and they had 4 boys, Bill, Derek, Chris and Mark. Uncle Noel died in May 2000.

Faye, Bruce and us kids grew up in Haberfield. We all now live in Saratoga, NSW (near Gosford)

Noel's family grew up in Longueville (Lane Cove) and retired to Port Macquarie.

Bettys family grew up in Campsie (Canterbury district) then retired to Wyoming, also near Gosford.

Mum was telling me that when grandad and uncle Noel were at war, Grandma and Faye and Betty went to live with Dally II at Drummoyne. I asked her about Tom Carroll but she doesn't know him.

Ray's war record - and his son, Noel's

Notice the dates of birth. Noel was actually born 25th December 1924 and Ray was born 27th August 1897. So Noel made himself older and Ray made himself younger. Noel was a Dental Technician.

Fay and Betty Scoles 1950

6 Henley St Drummoyne - childhood home of Ken and Dally Messenger, and for a time of Gladys Scoles and her daughters Fay and Betty. The house was demolished about the year 2000.

Bill Davidson and Ray Scoles (foreground) About 1945. Faye said the car didn't even run and grandad just wanted them to sit in it and look like they were going for a drive. Mind you, grandad wore a white shirt and tie to mow the lawns, so it didnt come off quite as funny as he thought it would because mum said they were all used to him dressing like that, always.

Left: Dally Messenger II. The boys are Ken and Dally (III) Messenger. Then standing is Gladys Scoles, her daughter Betty, and Ray Scoles. About 1945.
